Born on a Blue Day, Continued

Again with the long time reading books. The past few days since I last posted have been insane. It started Sunday with yet another migraine - one that persisted for two days. Monday brought a trip to Atlanta to meet with my new Rheumatologist - which came with the diagnosis of yet another autoimmune disorder (I'm seriously getting tired of those). Tuesday brought errands and Wednesday brought another summer class. Add into the mix I'm still out in Harris County house/puppy/dog/cat sitting and this week is VBS in which I am playing a marvelous bus driver named Justin Time.

All that to say - I have been reading! I just haven't been posting. And I have been reading more lines than books. I guess I could post on all the crazy things I'm required to say as Justin Time ("Well tie me to a pig, and roll me in the mud" and "Well butter my brow and call me a biscuit" are my current favorites), I figured I stick to actual books. I'm still reading through Born on a Blue Day and as my brother promised, it is absolutely captivating. The way math and language are perceived by him is mind-blowing. And the trials this man has overcome (not the least of which in include finding his identity as an autistic gay man) are staggering. And the fact that he has come through all of this with the knowledge and ability and self-confidence to write a book is amazing. Can I just say - I have a new hero (well - a new non-fiction hero, being as many of my heroes are in fact fictional characters) and his name is Daniel Tammet.

Born on a Blue Day: Inside the Extraordinary Mind of an Autistic Savant is written by Daniel Tammet and published by Free Press.
